First Commerce launches #LocalStrong

First Commerce Credit Union has made their own way to help stimulate our local economy.

They launched their LocalStrong initiative this weekend -- putting 4-thousand dollars into the hands of 150 team members.

Among the first to reap the benefits -- Smallcakes.

One team members says the treats are a way -- not only to support a Tallahassee franchise, but also -- to brighten the day for people living in the Centre Pointe elder care facility.

"That came up because my aunt Mimi, who turned 100 last November, she's there and she's very very lonely," says Andrea Spratt. "All the residents are because they can't have visitors right now, so we wanted to do something, even if just for a minute to make them smile, so they're all going to get these awesome cupcakes."

Team members like Spratt each have $25 dollars to purchase goods, services, or gift certificates from local businesses.

First Commerce hopes that other businesses will follow suit to help keep Tallahassee thriving.
