Troopers identify victim killed in fiery Madison County crash

MADISON COUNTY, Fla. (WTXL) — Troopers have identified the victim who was was killed in a fiery crash in Madison County last month.

The Florida Highway Patrol has identified the driver as 52-year-old Charles Thomas Bellflowers, of Perry.

The accident happened around 3:15 a.m. on US Highway 221 just north of NW Reaper Church Road on April 18.

According to FHP, Bellflowers was killed when his pickup truck ran off the road and hit two trees before catching on fire.

Troopers say next of kin have been notified.


Troopers say one person is dead after a fiery crash in Madison County

According to the Florida Highway Patrol, the accident happened around 3:15 a.m. Thursday on US Highway 221 just north of NW Reaper Church Road.

Troopers say a pickup truck pulling a trailer was heading north on US Highway 221 and for unknown reason the driver switched to the south lane and hit two trees.

After hitting the trees, the truck traveled approximately another 25 feet before stopping and becoming engulfed in flames.

Authorities say the driver was pronounced dead on scene due to injuries sustained during the crash.

The identity of the driver is not known at this time.

Madison County Sheriff's Office, Madison County EMS and Greenville Fire and Rescue assisted Florida Highway Patrol on scene.
