TENNESSEE — Country music star Darius Rucker has now raised more than $2 million for St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.

Rucker has been raising money for the organization with his annual "Darius & Friends" concert for the past 10 years. This year's Nashville concert raised $425,000, a new record for the event and one that pushed them over the $2 million threshold .

The singer's event included a benefit concert, golf tournament, a silent auction and what has become the unofficial kick-off to the Country Music Awards festival in Nashville, according to Darius Rucker's website. This year's concert included performances by Luke Bryan, Sheryl Crow, Brett Young, Jimmie Allen and more.

"Ten years ago I visited St. Jude and knew I wanted to do everything I could to help those kids and the amazing doctors that work tirelessly to find cures," Rucker wrote on his Twitter page.
