WORTH, GA -- Monday Georgia State Superintendent Richard Woods made the announcement that Worth County Schools teacher John Tibbets would be the 2016-2017 teacher of the year.
Tibbets graduated from the United States Military Academy and served 21 years as an officer in the U.A. Army
He taught at Tift County High School and later at Worth County High, where he currently teaches economics.
As teacher of the year he will represent Georgia teachers by speaking to the public about the teaching profession and potentially conducting workshops and programs for educators.
