JACKSONVILLE, Fla. (AP) - The New Year's holiday was deadly on Jacksonville roads.
Authorities say 5 people died in crashes beginning late on New Year's Eve and ending early Tuesday morning.
A 29-year-old pedestrian died after being struck about 9:30 p.m.
The Florida Times-Union reports a man and a woman died around 12:30 a.m. on New Year's Day when a car pulled out in front of their SUV, which then flipped several times.
A few minutes later, a vehicle hit a light pole in another part of Duval County, killing a 20-year-old woman passenger.
Around 3:30 a.m., a 20-year-old lost control of his motorcycle, struck a mailbox and died. The Florida Highway Patrol says he wasn't wearing a helmet.
All of the crashes are under investigation.
