CARNESVILLE, Ga. (AP) - Franklin County sheriff's officials say a person was killed and two others were injured when a car fleeing from police crashed on Interstate 85.

Authorities tell the Athens Banner-Herald the driver, 21-year-old Thanquarius Calhoun, of McDonough, 20-year-old Reltheal Morton, of Auburn, were hospitalized in the crash Tuesday. The identity of the dead passenger has not been released.

Officials say the chase began when a Banks County Sheriff's deputy tried stopping the car and the driver fled. The chase reached a speed of over 100 mph and prompted a response by the Georgia State Patrol. The car eventually veered off the road, flipped multiple times and hit a tree.

Authorities say Calhoun will be charged with vehicular homicide, felony fleeing, DUI, reckless driving. It's unclear if he has a lawyer.
