MANATEE COUNTY - More information has been released in the wake of an investigation involving three former Manatee County Sheriff's Deputies.
One day after the sheriff's office confirmed the termination one deputy resignation of two others for behavior unbecoming of a law enforcement officer, ABC 7 News has learned that the U.S. Drug Enforcement Agency has an active investigation underway involving the Manatee County Sheriff’s Department.
There is no confirmation that the three deputies are part of the Federal probe, however, Manatee County Sheriff Public Information Officer Dave Bristow confirms their internal investigation of the officers is ongoing.
Meanwhile, independent reliable sources tell ABC7 News that the investigation involves Performance Enhancing Drugs and may extend beyond the Sherriff’s department to other municipal agencies in Manatee County.
