Woman Avoids Jail Time in Street Race that Killed Boyfriend

Posted

LAWRENCEVILLE, Ga. (AP) - Two women will not have to serve jail time for their roles in the racing death of a motorcyclist in Gwinnett County two years ago.

News outlets report Noelle Gretzinger and her friend Jennifer Schoeppler were each sentenced Monday to five years of probation following the April 2014 death of Gretzinger's 24-year-old boyfriend, Brandon Gaylor.

The two women were both racing behind Gaylor in Buford when he slowed down, causing both drivers to hit him.

Authorities say both women rearranged evidence and told officers they thought they had struck a deer and not the victim.

Gretzinger and Schoeppler entered Alford pleas last week to charges that included first-degree vehicular homicide and tampering with evidence.

In an Alford plea, a defendant doesn't admit guilt but acknowledges sufficient evidence for a conviction.
