Decatur, Ga.-- The Georgia Bureau of Investigation is reporting a rise in the number of arrests made by their Child Exploitation and Computer Crimes Unit and by the Georgia Internet Crimes Against Children task force (ICAC).

They say arrests have steadily risen over the past 3 years.

* Arrests 2014 = 189

* Arrests 2015 = 201

* Arrests 2016 = 275

   *Numbers Denote Fiscal Year

According to the GBI the increase in arrests is directly related to the added number of active new affiliates who partner with the GBI to conduct investigations.

GBI Special Agent in Charge of the CEACC Unit Debbie Garner stated "These increased arrests illustrate the importance of the Task Force working together and show that individuals attempting to exploit children will not be tolerated."

They say over the past year, multiple undercover operations have been conducted by the task force with arrests of individuals from all walks of life.
