TIFTON, GA (WTXL) - A teacher who was arrested after video showed her knocking down a special needs student is out on bond.

According to the Tift County Sheriff's Office, 71-year-old Amelia Stripling turned herself in Friday afternoon after a warrant was issued for her arrest.

She was charged with 2nd degree cruelty to a child, Tifton Police said.

Stripling was released Friday after she posted $15,000 bond, deputies said.

She had initially resigned after an incident at the Tift County Pre-K Center, a school spokesperson said. Closed circuit video from the school showed Stripling, bumping into the student who was standing in the doorway. The video then shows the boy falling over in the door frame into the classroom.
