Tallahassee Officer On Leave After 911 Call About Roadside Fight

TALLAHASSEE, Fl (WTXL) -- A Tallahassee Police Officer Jim Harris has been placed on paid administrative leave after being named as a suspect in a roadside incident, police said. 

Friday afternoon the Consolidated Dispatch Agency received a call about a roadside altercation near the intersection of Lonnbladh Road and Metropolitan Boulevard. According to the redacted incident report that was released around 1 a.m., Harris is being investigated for battery against a 34-year-old man. 

According to police, Harris was off duty at the time. 

The case has been assigned to a Violent Crimes Investigator for a full follow up, police said. Investigators are asking anyone with information about this incident to please call the Tallahassee Police Department at 850-891-4200.

WTXL has obtained a memo sent by Police Chief Michael DeLeo notifying Officer Harris that he was being placed on paid administrative leave, effective immediately pending the outcome of the criminal investigation. 

At this time WTXL is still working to confirm more details about what happened at the scene.
