TALLAHASSEE, FL (WTXL) - A Tallahassee man is in custody after authorities say he beat his girlfriend multiple times, including while she was pregnant with his child.

Jeffrey Flores-Jimenez was arrested on Monday, charged with one count of aggravated assault of a pregnant victim, two counts of battery, and one count felony battery by strangulation.

According to court documents, deputies say they first made contact with the victim in December after her doctor encouraged her to report injuries caused by Flores-Jimenez's abuse.

There, she told deputies Flores-Jimenez beat her multiple times during their one-year relationship, including while she was pregnant with his child. The child was adopted by a family in Georgia after his birth, documents say.

One of the incidents described by probable cause affidavit claims that Flores-Jimenez threw the victim on the floor during an argument, threatened to break her wrist, and then began to choke her. When Flores-Jimenez let her go, documents say he grabbed the victim's dog and threatened to strangle the dog if the victim did not follow his orders.

Flores-Jimenez was arrested in February and later released for the same series of incidents. On Monday, he was arrested again with additional charges.

The suspect's first court appearance was Tuesday; his bond was set for $8,250.
