TALLAHASSEE, FL (WTXL) - A man was arrested after investigators say he purposely burned his house down and tried to make it look like an accident.

Charles Martin, 38, was arrested on arson charges Wednesday, one month after fire fighters were called out to a fire that had started inside Martin's home on Pin Oak Lane.

The State Fire Marshal’s office said Martin was alone at the time the fire started.

Martin's wife, who also lived there, told investigators she had left the home after an argument and when she returned, the house was on fire. She also said Martin was walking down the street after he had apparently been drinking.

Investigators say the fire was likely started by a match or lighter in four different locations inside the home, all of which officials say were inconsistent with Martin's statements that fire had started from two lit candles in another room.
