Retired Photographer Helps Police Chase Suspected Criminal

Posted

MIAMI (AP) - A recently retired Miami Herald photographer found himself on the other side of the camera when he helped police chase down a suspected criminal.

Walter Michot tells the Herald (http://hrld.us/1TpgnBJ ) he was in his kitchen this week when he saw a man inside his fenced-in back yard. About two weeks ago, Michot's wife Emily - who is a Herald photographer - saw the same man outside. She called police but he got away before they arrived.

This time, Michot dashed outside and followed the man, who quickly jumped the fence and started walking briskly. Michot called police and stayed on the phone with them until they found the man.

The newspaper identified the man as 53-year-old Dwayne Cromer. He faces several charges. Jail records don't list a lawyer for him.
