TALLAHASSEE, FL (WTXL) -- A mother and her two children are dead after a morning house fire in Tallahassee.
According to the Tallahassee Fire Department, Rajames Scott and her daughters Aniyah and Anisha were killed after a fire broke out in their home Friday morning.
Firefighters were called out to the 2900 block of Byington Place around 7:30 a.m by neighbors.
When they got there, there was heavy fire in one of the rooms. Officials say the two children were taken to the hospital where they later died.
TFD says their mother, a 2nd grade teacher at Sabal Palm Elementary, was already dead when they arrived at the home.
Rajames Scott was 37, her daughters were ages 6 and 7.
"Our hearts go out to the families and friends of the victims of today’s fire,“ said Fire Chief Jerome Gaines.
The fire is believed to have originated in the kitchen, according to TFD, however the investigation is still open.
