LAKELAND, Fla. (AP) - Authorities say a man is dead after crashing a stolen car while fleeing from Florida deputies.
The Ledger (http://goo.gl/w5HO8N) reports that 31-year-old Rodrick Childs was the only person in the four-door Infiniti when he crashed Sunday evening.
The Polk County Sheriff's Office reports that a deputy pulled Childs over and determined the car had been stolen in Alachua County. When another deputy responded as backup, authorities say, Childs sped off. A short time later, reports show that Childs lost control, crashed into an oncoming car, went through the yards of two homes and hit a house. Childs was ejected and killed.
Authorities say the two people in the car Childs hit weren't injured. No one was in the house hit by the car.
Records show Childs had four prior arrests in Alachua County and a suspended license.
