JACKSONVILLE, Fla. (AP) - A 19-year-old man has pleaded not guilty to attempted murder and other charges associated with the shooting of a detective in Florida.
The Florida Times-Union (http://bit.ly/1Sp98X6 ) reports Kevin Ryan Rojas was in a wheelchair when he appeared in court Thursday to enter his pleas.
The Jacksonville Sheriff's Office says Rojas shot an undercover narcotics detective March 9 after a traffic stop in Jacksonville. The detective's 14-year-old son was in the car, but was unharmed.
The detective, who wasn't identified because he works undercover, was released from the hospital March 18.
Rojas was shot by two different officers after fleeing the scene.
He is charged with attempted murder, aggravated assault on a police officer and other charges.
Rojas is Hispanic. The race of the officer wasn't released.
