SUWANNEE Co., FL (WTXL) - Troopers say a 4-month-old is in the hospital with serious injuries after being ejected from an SUV Tuesday afternoon.

According to the Florida Highway Patrol, Shelly Arreola of Live Oak was driving on County Road 137, south of Highway 90.

Troopers said Arreola's vehicle went off the road onto the shoulder when she over-corrected, causing the SUV to rotate.

The vehicle slid across the road to the opposite shoulder before going airborne, said FHP. It finally hit a fence and flipped onto the roof.

Arreola was not wearing a seat belt, according to FHP, but only suffered from minor injuries.

Troopers said the 4-month-old was not in a car seat and was ejected, causing serious injuries. She was flown to Shands in Gainesville for treatment.

A 3-year-old was also in the SUV however Troopers said she was restrained and did not suffer any injuries.

Arreola is being charged with careless driving, driving without a license, and not using child restraints.
