TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WTXL) -- October is Domestic Violence Awareness Month, but local leaders aren't waiting to spread their message.

The Domestic Violence Coordinating Council is hosting the fourth annual March to End the Silence on Domestic Violence.

The group, DVCC, has been raising awareness about domestic violence for more than 15 years, and this event helps get the community involved in their mission.

Experts say getting the public aware of red flags and how to deal with potential domestic violence situations is key.

Marchers will be meeting at three spots around Tallahassee: FAMU @ The Set, FSU @ the Union Integration Statue, and The Capitol - TCC @ the Front Steps. Everyone will then march to the FSU Turnbull Center.

That's where a survivor speaker will share their story, followed by a panel about life after domestic violence.

March to End the Silence on Domestic Violence is Wednesday, September 23 from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m.
