Volunteer Group Trying to Open No-Kill Animal Shelter

Posted

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WTXL) -- A no-kill animal rescue group in Tallahassee run entirely by volunteers is calling on the community for support.

Black Cats & Old Dogs Animal Rescue operates through foster homes, taking in animals that are often overlooked and turned down by other rescues. Black Cats & Old Dogs pulls animals from kill shelters and takes owner surrenders on a limited basis.

Organizers are trying to raise money to open its own no-kill shelter in Tallahassee and care for animals they already have in foster care.

The group is hosting a benefit dinner. Festivities include two live bands, a silent auction, a kids' costume contest and a pumpkin carving contest.

The Black Cats & Old Dogs Animal Rescue fundraiser dinner is Thursday, October 29 from 6:30 p.m. until 9:30 p.m. at the American Legion in Tallahassee (229 Lake Ella Drive). Tickets are $25 for adults and $10 for kids 12 and under.
