UPDATE: Victim Identified in Fatal I-10 Crash

LEON COUNTY, Fla. (WTXL) --Florida Highway Patrol identifies the semi-truck driver killed in a crash with an SUV on Interstate 10 this afternoon.

Troopers say the crash happened around 2:45 near mile-marker 207 in Leon County.

Troopers say Rita Gripe, 68, for an unknown reason lost control of her SUV while trying to pass Louis Ealey's semi.

That's when troopers say Gripe struck the front of Ealey's semi causing her SUV to go into the median, while the semi was redirected into the trees.

70-year-old Ealey was taken to Tallahassee Memorial Hospital where he later died.

Gripe had no injuries. Troopers say charges are pending.


The Florida Department of Highway Patrol is reporting a fatal car crash on mile-marker 207 in Leon County, Fla.

The crash occurred on the afternoon of Thursday, May 4.  

No word on the victim's identity. 

The crash is causing a roadblock that has traffic backed up to mile-marker 208.
