Tallahassee, Florida - Camp Folks, LLC., Tallahassee’s new outdoor gear rental and excursion company, is pleased to present 4 unique tubing experiences to help you stay cool in the heat of the Summer.
Ichetucknee
Camp Folks is headed to Ichetucknee for a tubing day trip June 5th. The famed Ichetucknee river is one of the most popular for tubing and other activities in the state. Due to the popularity and fragile ecosystem, only a limited number of tubers are allowed per day. Be sure to arrive early (by or before 9 AM on weekends) to make sure you’ll get a spot. The crystal-clear waters are said to be an effective cure for stress, so get out on the water!
Spring Creek and Chipola River (Bear Paw)
Camp Folks offers tubing trips down Spring Creek and Chipola River EVERY Friday in June and July! For Tallahassee and Leon County locals, this is a river that hardly needs introduction. Although the entirety of the river is a whopping 94 miles in length, the popular and widely-used paddling/tubing trail is much shorter, and takes around 3 ½ hours to complete.
Santa Fe River
Hitch a ride with Camp Folks for our Adult Summer Camp at Ginnie Spring on June 11-12 and experience the Santa Fe River for yourself! Originating not in Santa Fe, NM, but Lake Santa Fe, FL, this river stretches for 75 miles from east to west across several counties. An interesting fact about this river is that it goes underground for about three miles at O’Leno State Park, and comes back out the other side wide and clear, perfect for tubing or paddling. The river is named after a Spanish mission that was once located near the river. Ginnie Springs is located on the Santa Fe River, offering a short tube run to visitors of the private campground and recreation area.
Coldwater Creek
Join Camp Folks June 25-26 for a tubing and camping experience on Coldwater Creek! Set in an unusually hilly part of Florida, this 19-mile creek is lined with high (sometimes 30-ft!) bluffs and has one of the swiftest currents in Florida, clocking in at blazing speeds of over 3 mph. Mini-rapids along the creek make for a bumpy and exciting tube or paddle adventure, as you navigate over fallen logs and shallow river bottoms. Some private houses have been built along the river, but the folks here are friendly. In addition, you can enjoy a unique landscape of hardwood hammocks and upland pine forests.
