TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WTXL)-- More than 1 people will be diagnosed with diabetes in the United States alone this year, but members of Tallahassee Memorial Healthcare are bowling to decrease those odds.
Tallahassee Memorial Healthcare dedicates its services to the diagnosis and management of the disease.
Sunday, TMH partnered with Tallahassee Sigmas Education Foundation to bowl for diabetes.
Proceeds from the event go towards the hospital's diabetes center, which benefits summer camp scholarships for children battling the disease.
"These events affect our community by providing an opportunity for the children who would not have an opportunity to go to camp. To learn about their diseas, to learn how to give themselves shots or how to use their insulin pump. It gives them an opportunity to feel like they're the same as their other friends," said Judi Wills, an annual giving officer with the foundation.
