TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WTXL) -- Area organizations are teaming up to help empower middle and high school girls.
The Empowerment Project's mission is to "bring communities and girls together through a national conversation on female leadership spurred by a film of the same name." The documentary features ordinary women doing extraordinary things in their careers and lives, and asks the question: What would you do if you weren't afraid to fail?
Now, that mission is coming to our community.
A film screening and event is set for this weekend, thanks to Girls on the Run of the Big Bend, National High Magnetic Field Laboratory, Sci Girls, Oasis Center for Women and Girls, PACE Center for Girls, WFSU, and Tallahassee/Leon County Commission on the Status of Women and Girls.
The event also includes a women’s panel, an empowerment zone and back-to-school giveaways.
The Empowerment Project is Saturday, August 8 from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m., with film screenings at 10 a.m. and noon. It's at the Mag Lab (1800 East Paul Dirac Drive in Tallahassee) and is free to take part.
