TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WTXL)-- Tallahassee residents had the chance to make some yummy preserves Sunday.
The Tallahassee Museum hosted "Making and Canning Peach Preserves." The event featured authentic 1800s stoves, century-old artwork and of course the art of preserving your fruit, which was the main storing method in those days.
One of the demonstrators explained how the process is beneficial even in today's times.
"A lot of people are wanting to learn to can because things can happen to electricity so freezing may not always be available. When you can and preserve your own food you can control what goes into it," said Judy Stricklin.
Each guest got to take home their own can of peach preserve. Preserving your own fruit also lets you control what goes into it.
