TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WTXL) -- Leon County took the time to celebrate Asian culture, as Asian Heritage Month gets underway.
A celebration was held at the Leroy Collins County Main Library Saturday.
Guests were able to get a taste of Asian cuisine, listen to classic Asian music and explore Asian inspired arts and crafts.
The chairman of the Tallahassee Asian Coalition explained the event is a way to increase awareness about the small, but strong Asian community in the Capital City.
"Sometimes it's easier for other people to understand other countries if they come to programs and see that even though the music and language may sound different, but the music and culture are very similar to what they experience. This kind of event is very important for us to bring the communities together," said T. "Soma" Somasundaram.
