LAKE PARK, Ga. (WTXL) -- It's almost time to help raise money for the James Eunice Charity Fund.
It's all thanks to The Clock is Ticking Swim and BBQ Dinner.
The event started four years ago, in memory of 17-year old James Eunice. He died in a 2011 duck hunting accident.
The name "The Clock is Ticking" comes from something James wrote in a notebook just a few months before he died. His parents used the tragedy of his death to keep his legacy alive.
The Clock is Ticking raises money that goes right back to the community, through scholarships and even search and rescue equipment. Over the past four years, they've raised more than $230,000 and handed out 118 scholarships.
This year's two-day event is set for September 12 and 13.
Organizers are hosting a BBQ dinner on September 12, where they will share James' story.
Swim events, including a one-mile, 3.5-mile and 7-mile, begin September 13.
Everything is at the Lowndes County 4H Camp (5000 4H Club Road in Lake Park).
