TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WTXL) - Today, StarMetro hosted its annual Stuff the Bus campaign, aimed at helping America's Second Harvest of the Big Bend fight hunger. Organizers say it was an overwhelming success!

The City of Tallahassee (COT) collected 3,186 pounds of food, including canned soup, vegetables, meats, pasta, rice and cereal and stuffed it all into a 40-foot StarMetro bus. That bus then dropped off the donated items at Second Harvest to help restock the Tallahassee-based food bank's shelves. Organizers say today's donations will provide more than 4,000 meals - making this the most successful Stuff the Bus food drive to date!

The City partnered with several grocery stores, salons, schools, restaurants, health clubs, banks, citizens and StarMetro customers to make this happen.

America’s Second Harvest of the Big Bend serves residents in 11 local counties to fight hunger among area children, college students, families and senior citizens. Last year, the agency delivered more than 5.4 million meals.
