TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WTXL)-- Frank Lloyd Wright was an American architect, who designed hundreds of structures, including a private residence in the Capital City known as the Spring House.

Every 2nd Sunday of the month, the Spring House opens its doors to residents for a chance to peek at the intricate and unique design of the unconventional hemi-cycle house.

It's the only built private residence designed by Wright in the state of Florida.

A family member of the home's original owners explained how the house is in tune with nature.

Byrd Lewis Mashburn said, "The way that he designed our house and most that I know about draw you to the outside. He loved nature and wanted people to experience it as they lived their lives and you truly do in Spring house."

The Spring House was completed in 1954. By 1996, it was designated as a not-for profit organization preserving the rare design.
