GEORGIA - Several South Georgia schools received awards for consistency in academic achievement and academic performance.
Last week, Governor Nathan Deal along with the Governor's Office of Student Achievement (GOSA) announced a new website. Officials say the website will host reports to help parents, students, and educators understand the strengths and challenges of their local schools.
GOSA also announced that 187 Georgia public schools will receive the Highest Performing or Greatest Gains school awards.
The awards are given based on a three-year average of the College and Career Ready Performance Index (CCRPI) score for each school. CCRPI also determines schools' letter grades and is based on state test scores, student growth on state tests, and other factors.
According to GOSA, each school has a chance to win one of four awards; bronze, silver, gold or platinum.
Several schools in our area received awards including; Decatur High School (silver), Hahira Elementary (gold), Lake Park Elementary (gold), Pine Grove Middle School (gold), Cross Creek Elementary School (silver) and J.T. Reddick School (gold).
