JACKSON COUNTY, Fla. (WTXL) -- On Wednesday, March 8, The Sex Offender Compliance Division of Jackson County Sheriff's Office launched an investigation on registered sex offender, Mitchel Ray Norman, after failure to comply with sex offender registration requirements.
During the investigation, law enforcement discovered that Norman had moved to Lake City, Fla. without notifying the county within 48 hours of vacating a residence, which is required by Florida law.
Norman also failed to registered the his phone number, which is required by law.
On Monday, April 3, a warrant was obtained for Failure to Report Vacating a Residence and Failure to Report Change in Telephone Information.
U.S. Marshal Service accepted the case on Wednesday, April 5 and tracked Norman to a motel in Lake City, where he was taken into custody.
He will be extradited back to Jackson County to face charges.
