Seminars on Slimming Down in the New Year

Posted

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WTXL) -- If you're ready to start the new year off on a healthier foot, Capital Regional Medical Center is ready to help.

The group is hosting a series of bariatric informational seminars.

It's a way to learn about bariatric procedures. According to the American Society for Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery,"bariatric surgical procedures cause weight loss by restricting the amount of food the stomach can hold, causing malabsorption of nutrients, or by a combination of both gastric restriction and malabsorption. Bariatric procedures also often cause hormonal changes. Most weight loss surgeries today are performed using minimally invasive techniques (laparoscopic surgery)."

The seminars also give you a chance to meet the bariatric staff at Capital Regional: Dr. Rodolfo Oviedo, Dr. Rohan Joseph and Dr. Anthony Wright.

Those involved say, "It's the first step toward a healthier you."

The Bariatric Weight-Loss Surgery: Gastric Bypass and Gastric Sleeve seminar is Tuesday, January 12 at Capital Regional Medical Center in the first floor classroom.

It's free to take part and all are invited.
