MIDWAY, FL - Girls on the Run of the Big Bend is kicking off their 8th season in Leon County.
Christine Souders talked with Executive Director Ericka McKribbin about fall enrollment.
Registration runs now through August 31st.
Girls on the Run of the Big Bend runs, literally. from September to December 2nd.
There's 13 school and community sites in Leon County, with $150 registration fee, scholarships available.
This is for girls 3rd through 8th grades.
The mission of Girls on the Run of the Big Bend is to inspire 3rd-8th grade girls to be joyful, healthy, and confident using a fun, experience-based curriculum that creatively integrates running.
We envision a world where every girl knows and activates her limitless potential to boldly pursue her dreams. During the 10-week season, girls learn healthy habits such as selecting nutritious food, believing in themselves, giving back to the community, and overcoming obstacles. The girls are empowered to turn those lessons into healthy lifestyles.
The program culminates in the girls completing a celebratory 5K. Completing the 5K provides a tangible sense of achievement, as well as a framework for setting and achieving life goals.
