"Saturday in the Park" jazz concert to feature FAMU's Lindsey Sarjeant

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WTXL) – The Downtown Tallahassee Business Association and the Tallahassee Downtown Improvement Authority will be hosting their fourth free jazz concert this Saturday, as part of the “Saturdays in the Park” series.

On Saturday, June 1 from 8 p.m. to 10 p.m. the Lindsey Sarjent Group is scheduled to perform at the Ponce De Leon Park, located on West Park Avenue in Tallahassee.

Lindsey Sarjeant is a Florida A&M University professor of Music, director of Jazz Studies program, as well as director of Jazz Ensemble and music arranger for the Marching “100” Band, Symphonic Band and Jazz Ensemble.

Sarjeant is a jazz pianist, composer, jazz lecturer and historian, adjudicator and jazz keyboard clinician. His tours include Europe with FAMU Jazz Ensemble in Paris, Monteux, Amsterdam and Brienz, as well as touring with Pam Laws in the Soviet Union.

The concert series is free and open to the public. Lawn chairs and blankets are welcome. Food and drinks will be available for purchase at the event.
