TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WTXL)-- Pop Warner Football took time out Saturday to teach athletes the fundamentals while reassuring parents of their child's safety on the field.
Leon County and Big Bend Pop Warner hosted the event. The day included a 5k race, tackle football, as well as, cheer and dance programs. It's designed to help parents, players and coaches understand, identify, and prevent sports-related concussions.
Former Florida State University football player said the event was about building connections and expanding players' knowledge.
"Football has been an intricate part of my life and playing here at Florida State University I gained a lot of friends, lifetime friends and the values of football. I know what it means to the youth. And what we want to try and do is continue to have football be a part of the youth but in order for that to happen we have to teach them the proper way to play the game," said Forrest Conoly.
Kids and Pros Football partnered with the Atlanta Falcons to provide professional insight into the world of football.
