TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WTXL) -- The Omega Lamplighters of Tallahassee are preparing to take off for 500 Miles of Freedom: College Tour and Civil Rights Trip.
The mentoring group is traveling with 40 young men from Tallahassee, Quincy, Wakulla and Jackson Counties. This is the second annual trip.
They're headed to Memphis and two stops in Alabama: Selma, and Birmingham. Those taking part will experience the historical cities and colleges that helped shaped the civil-rights era.
The Lamplighters are inviting the community to the send off. It's Thursday night and early Friday morning (midnight departure) at Parks & Crump law office in Tallahassee.
