TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WTXL) - The City of Tallahassee is rolling out a new transportation service available to the approximately 7,000 residents living in northwest Tallahassee called Lake Jackson FLEX.

StarMetro will operate the weekday route and shuttle service that provides "curb-to-curb" transportation to any location within an 11-square-mile area near Lake Jackson. This includes access to the Oak Valley Shopping Center, Lake Jackson Trading Post and any other location within the designated area.

Hours of operation are Monday through Friday during the hours of 6 - 9 a.m. and 4 -7 p.m.

It also arrives at the Lake Jackson Town Center at scheduled times to connect with two of StarMetro’s fixed routes – Big Bend and Forest. This connection enables riders to access all of StarMetro’s bus routes to reach numerous locations throughout Tallahassee.

This new FLEX service is paid for through funds from a Florida Department of Transportation service development grant with a 50 percent match from the City of Tallahassee and Leon County.

To make a reservation, customers should call 891-5199 between 6:30 a.m. and 6 p.m. Monday through Friday and indicate that they would like to schedule a Lake Jackson FLEX trip. Reservations must be made at least two hours before the desired travel. StarMetro’s regular rates apply.
