TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WTXL) - The Muscular Dystrophy Association, Members of the Tallahassee Professional Fire Fighters No. 2339 and The Tallahassee Fire Department are all teaming up to help those who are locally affected by muscular dystrophy.
They honored their 60 year partnership this morning as well as kicked off their annual boot drive.
Luther McClellan, a member of the Tallahassee Fire Department and Co-Coordinator of the MDA Boot Drive, joined WTXL Midday's Jade Bulecza on the show today to talk more about the event and how he feels about some of the kids he has worked with that suffer from muscular dystrophy.
"I got to see a bunch of kids, I got to see the smiles on their faces," said McClellan. "They're faced with a life-changing disease that affects them and doesn't allow them to do some of the things we get to do."
McClellan went on to praise the children for their positivity.
"As firefighters, people love to look at us as heroes but in all reality, those kids are the heroes because they're working with what they have with a smile on their face an they keep their goals alive and their hearts full."
