LEON COUNTY, Fla. (WTXL) — Thursday, the Knight Creative Communities class unveiled a new Wander & Wonder Story Trail at the Fort Braden Community Center.
The story trails are part of this year's bigger project known as Fully Booked.
The first trail was put up around the path atPedrick Pond Park Aug. 25 and features the book "Señorita Mariposa".
The Fully Booked Project, envisioned by the 2022 KCCI Community Catalyst Team, aims to open a world of possibilities through nature and reading.
Tiffany Baker is part of this year's KCCI catalyst team and said creating a space of possibilities is needed in all areas around Leon County.
"These are locations where they are kind of remote and so it's not easy to get into town to experience other things and there's not always a whole ton of investment in these communities," Baker said.
The book featured along this trail is "Rocket says look up!" by Nathan Bryon.
According to the Leon County Public Library summary of the book, it's about an aspiring astronaut named Rocket who draws her community together to see a rare appearance of the Phoenix Meteor Showers, hoping especially her big brother, Jamal, will look up from his phone.
The next Wonder and Wander Trail will be unveiled at the Woodville Park and Recreation Complex on September 22.
