TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WTXL) -- The community is coming together to say thanks to those who have served our country.
Saturday is the fourth annual Operation Thank You in Leon County. It honors all veterans, but especially those who served in the Korean War. Operation Thank You also falls on Armed Forces Day.
This event begins with a morning ceremony and remarks from John L. Haynes, a veteran who served in World War II, Korean and Vietnam, and who was recently inducted into the Florida Veterans’ Hall of Fame.
Organizers are also looking for volunteers to help with staging, food service and set-up; parking and helping disabled veterans get a seat.
Ben Bradwell and Matt Cavell joined us on WTXL Sunrise for all the information and why this event is so important for our community. Click the thumbnail to watch the complete interview.
Operation Thank You is Saturday, May 16. The ceremony starts at 8:30 a.m. at the Korean War Memorial in Cascades Park. For more information and how to get involved, click here.
