TALLAHASSEE, FL - It's no secret what's going around this Halloween.
Candy!
While many will enjoy the sweet treat, it's important to stay smart and safe.
Local pediatrician, Dr. Maci McDermott shared a few tips for parents and kids.
Dr. McDermott said to always inspect the candy before consumption.
Good indicators not to eat the candy, if the wrapping is loose or looks tampered with.
Also, don't eat the candy while trick or treating, pour out all the candy on a table at once and look over the candy for any holes or other things that look peculiar.
A bog question is how much candy should you let your children eat on Halloween night?
Dr. McDermott said to give a few extra pieces tonight, but consider holding on to the treats, to reward a child for good behavior, or you can even donate to a local dentist.
