TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WTXL) -- The Harlem Globetrotters are celebrating 90 years - and not showing any signs of slowing down!
The world famous Globetrotters are embarking on an anniversary tour of 260 cities around the world, and they're bringing that show to the Capital City.
Also known as the Ambassadors of Goodwill, the Harlem Globetrotters are giving back even more during their 90th consecutive year, thanks to the Great Assist program. Those involved say the initiative is all about some of the stars of the team performing "acts of goodwill" in every city they visit.
You also have a chance to see that impact at work.
Fans can go to GreatAssist.com and nominate a cause, family or person in need of a smile, and the team will help as many fans as possible.
Organizers say, "In addition to those requests, the team is planning to bring their bullying prevention program to over 400 schools and community centers, talk to youth about character education and physical fitness, visit children's hospitals and lend a hand to those in need."
Plus, you can count on the Globetrotter traditional of on-the-court antics and basketball wizardry. The team will sign autographs and pose for pictures with fans after the game. In honor of
the past 90 years, the Globetrotters will also be in some throwback uniforms!
Globetrotter and world record holder Buckets Blakes joined us on WTXL Sunrise to tell us what we can expect at the show - and to see if Kellie and Max have what it takes to be make it on the team!
The Harlem Globetrotters Tallahassee show is Thursday, March 3 at 7 p.m. at the Donald L. Tucker Civic Center (505 W Pensacola Street).
Tickets start at $30 and are on sale now.
