TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WTXL) -- August is National Breastfeeding Month, and the Florida Department of Health is using this time to raise awareness.
The department's Gadsden WIC program is hosting a National Breastfeeding Month celebration. It's a way to bring mothers together to share their stories and advice, and increase participation in breastfeeding.
The theme is "Breastfeeding Work: Let's Make It Work." A guest speaker will be on hand, along with plenty of games, food and prizes. Normal WIC services, like certifications and issuing benefits, will also be available at this time.
The National Breastfeeding Month celebration is Saturday, August 29 from 11 a.m. until 2 p.m.
Everything is at the Florida Department of Health in Gadsden County (278 Lasalle Lefall Drive in Quincy). All are invited and there's no cost to take part.
