TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WTXL) -- The Veterans Memorial Railroad is going full-steam ahead with the next Public Run Day!
The group is offering free train rides on Number 59, a replica of a late 1800's era coal fired steam locomotive. According to the group, this a 1/3-scale replica that runs on a two-foot gauge track that travels over one mile throughout the park.
Volunteer Donnie Read joined us on WTXL Sunrise to talk the importance of this event and what makes it so special. Click the thumbnail to watch the interview.
Public Run Day is set for Saturday, June 13 from 11 a.m. until 3 p.m. If you can't make it, the event continues the second Saturday of every month.
It's a Veterans Memorial Railroad in Veterans Memorial Park (10561 Theo Jacobs Way) in Bristol. It's a free event, but donations are accepted to help support the maintenance and operation of the railroad.
