LOWNDES, COUNTY, Ga. (WTXL) -- The Georgia State Police report a fatal single car crash in Lake Park, Ga on Wednesday, May 17 at approximately 3:05 a.m.
Officers say Kayla Jean Lewis, 21, was driving a 2009 Nissan Maxima northbound on South North Main Street. She failed to stop at the intersection of South Main and Georgia State Route 7.
Her car then traveled across Georgia State Route 7 onto South North Main then left on the west side of the roadway.
Investigators say she struck a mailbox and then finally hitting a tree, where the impact ended her life.
She was accompanied by 18 year-old, Timothy Huff, who was sitting in the front passenger seat.
No alcohol was involved in this incident.
Both people involved were wearing their seat belts.
