TALLAHASSEE, FL - Later this month FAMU will be hosting an event full of fun for the whole family.
It's also to recognize the University's role as a national leader in viticulture.
Viticulture (from the Latin word for vine) is the science, production, and study of grapes. It deals with the series of events that occur in the vineyard. It is a branch of the science of horticulture.
The 2016 Grape Harvest Festival includes petting zoos, watersides, grape throwing contests and tours of FAMU's 45 grape vineyard.
Robert Taylor and Dr. Violeta Tsolova talked about this being the 16th year.
This year's theme is Purple Reign.
It's at the University's Premier Muscadine Grape Vineyard.
The 2016 Grape Harvest Vineyard is August 27th at FAMU from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.
