TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WTXL)-- Women came together on the campus of Florida Agricultural and Mechanical University Saturday for some high tea to celebrate Women's History Month.

The university honored 12 women who have made a significant contribution to Famu's history.

The Heroines' Tea awarded recipients were awarded for courage, service and other notable qualities.

"It's always great to have an opportunity to show that women impact anything going on in the world. It was encouraged that you wear hat and gloves. And so I pulled out this hat, got my gloves and I'm really enjoying it," said Carrie Gavin.

On Tuesday, March 24, the university is hosting "HerStory: Behind the Lens." It's an exploration of women in the media.
