TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WTXL)-- The community came together Saturday to pedal non-stop for the victims of 2 shootings in tallahassee.

The 9 hour cyclethon at Badass Fitness started at 9 a.m and went all the way through until 6 p.m.

Nine teams pedaled nonstop in an attempt to raise $18,000 for the family of slain Leon County Deputy Chris Smith and FSU shooting victim Ronny Ahmed, who was left paralyzed.

The organizer of the event said the cyclethon is an attempt to bring the community together after a tragedy. "We really wanted to send a message to the community that we are stronger than any sort of violence that might come here and we really wanted to come together and show the world how awesome Tallahassee really is," said Shannon Colavecchio.

The teams were able to raise the money between participants, donations, and raffle sales.
