TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WTXL) -- Florida's new Veterans Walk of Honor will officially be unveiled this Veterans Day.
The 500-foot path connects the old and new Capitols, the House and Senate buildings, and the future home of the Florida Veterans Memorial.
There are 540 bricks dedicated to Florida vets and 31 special pavers honoring the state's Medal of Honor recipients.
Those involved say there are remembrances to veterans of Indian Wars, Revolutionary War, Civil War, World War I, II, Korea, Vietnam, and current Middle Eastern Conflicts. Family members and friends were able to buy a brick bearing the name of their loved one.
It's been in the works for months thanks to efforts of the Florida Veterans Foundation. Almost 95 percent of the brick sales supports Florida veterans in need.
The Florida Veterans Memorial Walk of Honor Dedication is Wednesday, November 11 around 1 p.m. (after the Tallahassee Veterans Day parade).
It's at the Old Capitol Courtyard, and all are invited.
Special speakers will be on hand, along with the FSU Marching Chiefs and the FAMU Color Guard. Musician Milena Dominique will be there singing the National Anthem and debuting her new song "Come Home."
