PALM COAST, Fla. (AP) — Authorities say a central Florida man is accused of killing a 4-month-old puppy at his girlfriend's house.

The Daytona Beach News-Journal (http://bit.ly/1qQMJU4 ) reports 27-year-old Wesley Jackson was charged with cruelty to animals after a Sept. 16 event that left the puppy dead. Jackson was arrested Friday.

According to a police report, the Chihuahua puppy had "multiple bruises on its body and a broken back right leg." The puppy named Little Man was already dead when it was taken to a veterinarian's office.

The dog's owner Mark Mitchell told authorities the dog was alive when he left for work that morning. When his teenage daughter came home from school, she saw Jackson "standing over the dog."

He was released on $2,000 bail. It's not known whether Jackson has an attorney.
